New Exhibits and Old Traditions at
Fiesta de Reyes!

As is the custom every year, the Fiesta de Reyes courtyard in Old Town will be full of fanciful, humorous, and visually stimulating décor, offered as tributes to many of San Diego’s early citizens. Many life-sized Catrina skeleton dolls in fancy dress, and some greater than life size, hold court at Fiesta de Reyes throughout the fall season.

In addition, Fiesta de Reyes, in collaboration with Los Angeles artist George Newnam, is adding a new indoor exhibit this year called Casa de las Calaveras. This delightful family-oriented exhibit will lead guests through a series of colorful displays that tell a story of Dia de los Muertos and educate the whole family about the traditions of Dia de los Muertos. Casa de las Calaveras will be open noon – 7 p.m. every day from October 22 through November 6. Tickets are $5 for kids 5 – 12 years old, $7 for adults and kids under 5 are free. Proceeds from Casa de las Calaveras will support living history and education programs in Old Town San Diego State Historic Park.

Lively folklorico dancers, dressed in Dia de los Muertos costumes, will be performing on the Fiesta de Reyes stage throughout the celebration, starting on Saturday, October 29 – 30 and continuing November 1–2. Artistic face painters will also be on hand October 29-30 and November 2 to help you celebrate the event in style.

The activities start at 11 a.m. and go until 11 p.m. on Tuesday and until 10 p.m. on Wednesday. Free parking is available throughout Old Town with extra parking available across Taylor Street in the CalTrans parking lot all day on weekend days and after 5 p.m. on weekdays.
